On Saturday, October 27, 2007, the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation held the Dream Halloween®

Los Angeles 2007 event in Santa Monica, which raised more than $1 million for children affected by AIDS.

As they do every year, Mattel donated several one-of-a-kind items especially created to be auctioned at the event.

For CARS fans, one of the highlights was the auction of a custom CARS collectors case with 70 slots

(for up to 75-80 cars) signed by John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of both Pixar and Disney Animation Studios.

The minimum bid was $3,000, and after a bidding war with the Pixar crew, the case was won by the President of

Mattel for the high bid of $13,000. The case can be placed free standing or hung on a wall.

The case included two exclusive & limited edition Lightning McQueen diecast cars: a Blu-Ray Lightning McQueen

and a Red Rangsburg Lightning McQueen. A limited batch of 15,000 Blu-Ray McQueens have been offered

to the public, but the Red Rangsburg Lightning McQueen has not been offered to consumers...at least yet—

only 50 cars were produced and distributed at an offsite brainstorming meeting held at

Palm Springs in early October of 2007.

The collector case also contained early releases of 2008 diecast characters:

the Piston Cup Tow Truck, Richard Clayton Kensington (security black and white van)

Not Chuck with Pit Tools, Pit Crew Guido with four tires, Pit Crew Ramone

Lightning Bolt Ramone, and Mia & Tia in Dinoco blue color.
